Profile

I am an experienced solicitor and head of MW's civil litigation team.  I have a broad civil practice which can be separated into three categories:

1. Actions Against the Police and Civil Liberties

I have substantial experience in pursuing claims against police services, detaining authorities and other public authorities. Commonly, I am asked to advise on the merits of claims of claims including false imprisonment, assault, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office, discrimination, breaches of human rights, negligence and others. Due to the length of time practiced in this area, I have worked on cases of varying degrees of complexity and am known particularly within this area of law in relation to negligence claims pursued on behalf of witnesses against the police, itself a complex area of law.

2. Employment Law

Having advised hundreds of clients in respect of their employment rights, I am well versed in understanding and appreciating the needs of clients who are looking for clear, concise, decisive commercial advice on their rights. Those clients include employees, employers, partners, directors, and the self-employed. I regularly receive repeat instructions or recommendations from my clients who seek pragmatic advice to resolve their concerns. As well as having substantial experience of pursuing matters before employment tribunals I have also dealt with matters before the High Court and Court of Appeal. My experience includes dealing with large employers, including local and national government bodies. I have substantial experience in acting for educational and health professionals. In addition, I have advised professionals in regulatory matters and have accepted an invitation to sit as a solicitor member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal on a part-time basis.

3. General Litigation

Ultimately, I consider myself to be a litigator; someone who can quickly get to the nub of the issue, and form a strategy towards a successful conclusion. Whether it be a claim involving allegations of negligence against professionals including lawyers, surveyors, insurance brokers, or breach of contract claims, I am comfortable in providing advice that is pragmatic and practical.
