I chose McMillan Williams due its leading reputation in the South East. As many other law firms are facing difficulties, McMillan Williams are rapidly expanding with new offices across London and the South East, which makes it one of the reasons why I was excited about starting my legal career here.
I was fortunate enough to be offered a Training Contact with the Firm and this commenced on the 1st February 2013. Having completed a double seat in the Property Law department. Working for one of our busiest fee earners has allowed me to work on a range of complex cases and allowed me to gain a huge amount of experience.
There is a huge amount of support whilst working at McMillan William, ranging from support staff to Partners. This creates an environment where you are encouraged to further develop your skills and you can feel confident knowing that support is always available when required. The highlight for me whilst working at McMillan William has been the gratitude you get from your clients and supervisor for the hard work and effort you have put in once the case is over. The odd box of chocolates and champagne bottles from clients has also made it worthwhile.
The firm has an annual advocacy competition with the final last year taking place at the taking place at the Royal Court of Justice. It was a fantastic opportunity for all trainees and paralegals to develop their advocacy skills and to enjoy the twists and turns of a mock criminal case. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I am already looking forward to next year’s competition.
