Throughout the course of my career, I have seen time and again how destructive a serious accident can be – both for the injured person and their loved ones. Not only are there physical and psychological injuries, there are financial injuries too.

It is my duty to secure the support my clients’ need. Often this means guiding them through the rehabilitation phase. Given my long-standing role as a personal injury solicitor, I can advise which therapies are best suited to which injuries – including traumatic brain injuries. This ensures my clients have access to the right medical care going forward, expediting their recovery process and making their lives as comfortable as possible.

I am also acutely aware of the financial harm an accident can have. Many of my clients are unable to go back to work, or can only return in a reduced capacity. Sometimes their injuries mean that while they can resume their current role, the advancement of their career is no longer possible. This can result in a range of further damages, such as the loss of salary, pension, overtime and bonuses.

Where the injured person has sadly died, the relatives of the deceased often have a financial dependency and services dependency claim. These can be significant in value, and it is important to safeguard their future financial security. The same goes for accidents which happen abroad, where damages are often assessed according to the laws of the country where the accident occurred. 

When I act on behalf of injured persons, or the relatives of those who have died, I take all these factors into consideration. This allows me to assess the true impact the accident has had on their lives. I then use my legal expertise, and instruct the help of leading experts, to obtain justice for those who have been injured through no fault of their own.

I am also known for running cases which other solicitors do not want to take, perhaps because issues such as liability, contributory negligence and causation are in dispute. I use my skills as a personal injury solicitor to assess the prospects of success on an ongoing basis, and to achieve the best possible outcome for the client.

Recent Successes

• B v R: £2.05 million plus £50,000 per year compensation secured for an aspiring Premier League footballer who was hit by a van while riding his scooter. He sustained serious orthopaedic injuries, developed chronic pain, severe PTSD, OCD and depression. His football career was cut short prematurely and he is now dependent on round-the-clock care. • K v S-L: £6.5 million compensation settlement obtained for a man who was travelling as a passenger in a car when the driver lost control. He was rendered a C5 tetraplegic, meaning he lost use of all four limbs. The other side argued there was contributory negligence on the basis that he was not wearing a seatbelt. The issue was settled at a joint settlement meeting the week before trial in my client’s favour.
  
  
• S v R: £940,000 compensation settlement achieved for a senior local authority manager who was injured in a road traffic accident. He sustained serious orthopaedic injuries which prevented him from returning to work on a permanent basis. His settlement reflected his lost earnings, the lost opportunity of advancing his career, and the benefits that would have been associated with a promotion.
  
  
• £823,000 plus £12,000 per year compensation for a university careers education manager hit by a car when a pedestrian.  He suffered a severe brain injury and was medically retired.
  
  
• L v W: £850,000 compensation settlement obtained for a financial services professional and amateur cyclist who was hit by a coach while out cycling. He suffered a severe brain injury and requires ongoing rehabilitation.
  
  
• S v A: £632,000 compensation settlement secured for an electrician who suffered a fall from height, during which he sustained lower limb injuries.
