  • I used MW Solicitors for my recent sale - Dwij and his assistant Carol were absolutely fantastic; they understood my needs and wishes and proactively progressed the exchange and completion of the property and surpassed all expectations. Communication was fantastic, chasing me when needed, and providing relevant and timely updates to keep my peace of mind. Could not recommend any more highly, a fantastic team.   • I have no idea how there are so many 5 star reviews here for MW solicitors Herne Hill. My experience of them was completely different. It’s hard to find words to describe how incompetent and unprofessional the solicitors there were during the recent sale of my property and purchase of another. Dwij Patel who is their head solicitor was all politeness and charm before we signed up with MW. The moment we did, their responsiveness dropped to almost zero. On the MW website it says they “try to respond to all client communications” within 24 hours” or something like that. We were lucky if we got a response to our emails at all, never mind within 24 hours. We found ourselves chasing via phone and email over and over to get even the simplest response, such as confirmation of receipt of important documents. It was so frustrating and made the whole process of moving house horrendously stressful. This went on throughout the whole exchange/completion process. It seemed like they didn’t really care about us at all. The worst example was when we sent MW a copy of a change of price in our house purchase, from our estate agents. Probably quite an important email, with a house purchase, you would think. No response. And lo and behold when it came to arranging the final completion documents, the sale price was incorrect and we had to spend more time getting corrected documents. Honestly, it’s hard to explain how draining it was. When it came to actually dealing with the particulars of the legal process, I ended up chasing some of the necessary documents myself because Dwij and the MW team were incapable of getting the information the buyers’ solicitors wanted. Apparently Dwij didn’t know the difference between the managing company of a block of flats and the developers who originally built them. Once I realised this (difficult since we were not kept updated with what was happening) I managed to get the required documents myself. I found it hard to understand what I was paying for. It should be noted that MW are probably more expensive than your average conveyancing lawyers. I thought this meant they would provide an exceptional service. In fact, they’re just expensive and not very good at what they do. They did give us some money off our fees for all the issues we had experienced, but we had to really push for it. It was the lack of communication that really made me so angry and made the process so miserable. For example, after we did finally complete, I emailed MW to ask when I’d receive my register of title. They said “it can take up to 3 months”. After 3 months I emailed again. I didn’t get a reply. After another 3 weeks or so I chased them. They then replied and told me there was an extra form I needed to fill in as a matter of urgency otherwise there would be some sort of problem with the register. After they had failed to respond to my email for about 3 weeks, I had to respond to them as a matter of urgency to avoid problems with the title. Staggering. So in summary, I strongly strongly advise you NOT to use MW solicitors Herne Hill. Maybe I was just unlucky. For some reason Dwij and team seem to have a plethora of 5 star feedback here on Google. But I must say, having used MW, I find the rest of the feedback here a little suspicious. If you do use them, I wish you the very best of luck and superhuman powers of patience.
