I am a Family and Child Law Solicitor based in Bexleyheath and a Childcare specialist who has been on the Children Panel since 1987. I have represented all parties in care cases and I have a particular interest in representing competent children who seek to have their views represented to the court directly and not through their Children’s Guardian. I have also specialised in cases involving serious non explained injury to babies and toddlers.

My aim is to ensure that my client’s case is presented to the court thoroughly, that they are able to understand the court process and take an informed part in it.

Recent Successes

  • During 2015/6 I worked as the Public Solicitor (Childcare and Civil) on St Helena Island in the South Atlantic and whilst there successfully represented 2 members of the community who obtained significant damages from St Helena Government.
  • In the U.K. I advised a competent child client who gave evidence in his care proceedings and the judge made findings against the step father on the basis of my client’s evidence. The stepfather was subsequently successful prosecuted and is now serving 17 years in prison.
  • After returning to private practice I recently advised a young first time mother who was in care proceedings, of the risks of the serious domestically abusive relationship she was in and the need for the supportive Mother and Baby placement. The client has been successful and will be keeping her baby.
  • After returning to the U.K. in 2016, I worked for a North Home Counties local authority for 2 years where I advised on all aspects of childcare and related law. Advised the Director of Social Services about a documentary on Channel 4 regarding fatal domestic violence where it was necessary to ensure that the children in the family were not identified.
  • Acted for the Local Authority in evidentially complex case where serious sexual abuse allegations were made and then retracted. I was was successful in ensuring that all the necessary evidence for the judge to make findings of sexual abuse and the cover up was placed before the court.
