I was drawn to McMillan Williams (MW) as it is a rapidly growing high street firm with huge potential. The mission “to make quality legal services accessible to everyone” attracts me, as I enjoy helping others and I am keen to contribute early on towards the firm’s successes. The firm is also very committed to diversity with staff from a wide range of backgrounds. Working in an environment where everyone seeks to provide the highest service (as evidenced by staff who have been recognised by Chambers and the Legal 500) will enable me to learn from high-performing practitioners.
I seek to pursue a successful and rewarding legal career and am confident that MW is a firm where I will be nurtured.
Whilst on my LPC, I participated in numerous pro bono initiatives including the LawWorks Telephone Mediation Line, where I explained to callers about mediation, and Advocates for International Development Online Dictionary, where I helped drafted simple definitions of legal terms to make law more accessible to all.
Prior to working as a paralegal in the company commercial department at Sherrards Solicitors, I volunteered with the Personal Support Unit (PSU) a charity that offers both emotional and practical support to litigants in person in court proceedings. I worked in their offices in the Royal Courts of Justice, Central London Family Court and County Court, and was the first student to complete their annual volunteering programme. I further volunteered with the Citizens Advice and provided clients with clear advice in plain English.
