I was initially attracted to McMillan Williams as the firm invests considerable time and energy in the development of their employees and especially in the training and opportunities provided to their junior members of staff. The annual Advocacy Competition is an exciting feature unique to McMillan Williams.  It is indicative of the firm’s commitment to providing a platform upon which their junior employees can build their legal skills. Through my research of the firm and then subsequent interviews I gained the impression that whilst working at McMillan Williams I would be a valued employee and receive the best possible opportunities and training from a highly reputable team.

I was also attracted to the firm as it retains well established and reputable departments in several areas of law such as family law, clinical negligence, personal injury and employment law. These are all areas of law in which I undertook elective exams as part of my LPC and therefore working at McMillan Williams would give me the opportunity to be able to gain practical experience in these areas of law in the future.

Prior to joining McMillan Williams, I worked at a high street firm at which I was involved in work to do with conveyancing matters, property law and probate. Most recently, I worked as a paralegal within the Children and Family department of a Local Authority. My main duties revolved around work in respect of care proceedings. I am excited to have the opportunity to develop my knowledge of family law and to gain experience of child law from a private practice perspective.  In the future I hope to gain experience in the clinical negligence and employment law departments as I enjoyed studying these subjects as part of my LPC.

I am very excited to be able to participate in McMillan Williams annual Advocacy Competition as I thoroughly enjoyed the advocacy modules of my LPC course. This competition is an invaluable opportunity to continue to develop my advocacy skills and I look forward to taking part in next year's competition.
