Profile

I have over 10 years’ post qualification experience specialising in criminal defence and extradition work, both publicly and privately funded. I have over 13 years' experience in case preparation, legal research, explaining the law simply and have many years experience working with young and vulnerable clients. I work with my clients as a team to ensure they understand their case.

I have experience in preparing cases for a broad range of criminal offences, including serious sexual and violent offences as well as supporting clients who are contesting extradition requests from countries in Europe and the world involving Human Rights arguments.

I work autonomously and robustly preparing my clients cases. I am approachable and take time with each client to ensure they understand each stage of their case and that I understand their instructions to fully advise them on their case and effectively prepare each stage of their case.

Awards, Accreditations & Memberships:

  • Police and Court Duty Solicitor
  • Member of the London Criminal Courts Solicitors Association
  • Member of the Defence Extradition Lawyers’ Forum (DELF)

Recent Successes:

Extradition

  • District Court in Bydgoszcz, Poland v P - Mr Justice Supperstone allowed an appeal on Article 8 grounds where succesful arguments were made that it would be disproportionate to extradite Ms P for numerous dishonesty offences.
  • Poland v K - Mr Justice Collins allowed the appeal in re-considering the methods by which a Court in the UK can become involved for itself in the translation of an expression of blood alcohol per mile.

Crime

  • R v F and others – Multihanded manslaughter (shooting) case. Defendant was acquitted, (2017).
  • R v F – Possession with intent to supply and Supply class B drugs – defendant sentenced in lower sentencing range after I carefully analysed telephone data assisting the Defence casting doubt on the Prosecution submissions that it was in a higher sentence range, resulting in a far lower sentence.
  • R v L-W - assault police - successful representations made to the prosecution that police were acting outside their powers lead to the prosecution discontinuing the case the day before trial.

Work in the Community & Pro Bono Work

I previously organised a fundraising event to raise money for Downs Syndrome Awareness.
